The Perks of Getting a Salesforce Certification

Certifications are the way to go these days if one is looking to upskill and grow their career. Degrees are great, but a course certification in a relevant domain can undoubtedly take you further. Multiple certifications can be an additional stamp on your authority in the subject and help you climb high in your career. A certification is usually also one of those 'recommended, yet not required' characteristics potential recruiters might look for when hiring. A certified employer/team can also be a criterion a potential recruit might look for when joining a company/team.

While we are talking about certifications …. Might I recommend you check out Salesforce, their certifications and their oh-so-many benefits that can be gold to growing your career?

The What and Why of Salesforce Certifications

Salesforce is ranked as the top Customer Relationship Management (CRM) provider, year after year after year. The company has grown leaps and bounds every year. It has made more revenue than any other CRM vendor — which explains its popularity, which in turn explains why Salesforce certifications are in high demand.

Since Salesforce launched its certifications in 2008 and its gamified learning platformTrailhead, in 2014, there has been an uptick in the number of people taking a certification in Salesforce. (As per Artisan Hub, there are over 76,800 Salesforce Certified Professionals, and that number keeps growing by the day!)

Salesforce has truly transformed CRM across the globe — many companies are either already using the platform or moving to Salesforce. So you can now understand why many employers want skilled professionals in Salesforce. The platform is in demand and will continue to be so in the future.

Investing in Salesforce Certifications...

….can be extremely useful and help you build a rewarding and growth-filled career. Salesforce certifications are globally recognized credentials. Being certified offers you an edge that can lead to new opportunities with your current or future employers. Gaining a new certificate can also help bump up your pay/get a higher pay package — the more you get, the more you can negotiate. (We mean it when we say the salary is high — a Salesforce Admin can make up to $120K, a Technical Architect — $123K)

Why should I get Salesforce Certified? I see the benefits, but I might need more convincing.

We get it. Salesforce certifications are pricey (upwards of $200 + taxes) — which can deter a few from taking the exams. But you don't have to take them until you are ready. You can sign up for Trailhead, where you can work on the modules and trails specific to the certification you want to take up. And once you are ready, you can take up the exam. (If you work in a Salesforce Partner company, you might have access to vouchers. If not, you can always contact colleagues and folks who can help you with your certification).

And in case you need more compelling, here are a few more reasons to learn and get that Salesforce certification:

  • According to IDC, there will be a whopping 4.2 million new Salesforce jobs by 2024. And all these new jobs will require at least 1 Salesforce skill. It means the time is ripe to get those certifications, yes?
  • Getting certified in Salesforce will help you gain global recognition as an expert — it gives you an in-depth understanding of the platform and proves you're an expert in your domain.
  • You become a key player in your organization's growth and success by implementing the best practices across the latest Salesforce rollouts and releases.
  • With Salesforce's usage and relevance spread across the globe, you can rest assured that your investment in these certifications (for the folks who feel it's pricey) will yield high returns in the long run. Whether you are a student looking to make a foray into the world of Salesforce or an admin with some years of experience using the platform, the learning and certifications will solidify your position as a Salesforce professional.
  • As mentioned, getting that Salesforce certification is the need of the hour. Your knowledge of Salesforce will help you offer your customers the best solutions and experiences on the platform.
  • A Salesforce Certification confirms your competence as a Salesforce Professional. As mentioned before, a certification (or a bunch of them) will open a treasure trove of opportunities as you grow in your career.
  • You'll be future-ready. With Salesforce making deep inroads and coming up with lots of new and exciting launches, it's safe to say that Salesforce is not going anywhere. Learning Salesforce will help you build skills that will keep being useful for you for years to come. You'll always be in sync with the platform advancements and ready to take on new challenges easily.
