    hi,

you can create tasks which can create a pop up notification for the user when it is due. That's really it works for Workflow Alerts. As far as alerts go, only email alerts is there.

Email alerts are emails generated by an automated process and sent to designated recipients. These actions consist of the standard text and list of recipients for an email. You can associate email alerts with processes, flows, workflow rules, approval processes, or entitlement processes. They’re also available through the Invocable Actions REST API endpoint.

Workflow alerts allow you to build notifications according to your action in salesforce. When a particular workflow rule is triggered, a template email will be sent to the relevant person or people in the end user organization.

Remember that you can associate a maximum of 5 alerts to each action (Instant and Time-Based Actions).

Workflow is the automation of the following types of actions based on your organization’s processes: Tasks – Assign a new task to a user, role, or record owner.

Email Alerts – Send an email to one or more recipients you specify.
Field Updates – Update the value of a field on a record.

    Thanks

Email alert is one of the action used in workflow and approval. They are used to generate email template by a workflow rule or approval process and sent to destination recipients. We can send workflow email alerts to users, contacts having an valid email address.
