When a fuzzy matching method is selected, various fuzzy matching algorithms are used to compare the fields. More than one matching algorithm can be used to compare a field. Each matching algorithm is scored based on how closely it matches the fields. The fields being compared aren't case sensitive

Many of us use the Salesforce search engine to find a record in Salesforce. A record in Salesforce can be entered in a variety of ways. It's true that the values of duplicate records aren't identical, but they're similar. How can we link these identical records so that they are flagged as potential duplicate records?
Fuzzy Matching: A search method that uses fuzzy comparison algorithms to compare values will find values that are identical as well as exact matches. You are now able to find all duplicate records in Salesforce, even the ones that are well hidden.

A matching rule defines how duplicate records are identified in duplicate rules and duplicate jobs.
