On the Salesforce Developers website,ALM defines the process of managing an app’s development, from design to final release. ALM also establishes a framework for making app bug fixes and feature enhancements over time.

ALM: It is the way a Salesforce owner or admin rolls out changes and enhancements to their Salesforce instance (otherwise known as an org). Having a solid ALM process ensures the org continues to work properly and delivers the most value to end-users. There are three separate development models: changeset development, org development, and package development.
