What is the use of record SetVar in Standard List Controller in Salesforce?

Hi,
The record setvar attribute is used on Visualforce Page with <apex:page> VF component. The value of the attribute indicates the name of the set of records passed to the page means, the list of records. These record set can be used in the expressions to return the list of values to display on the page or to perform actions on set of records.
