New Summer '22 Salesforce Flow Updates

Numerous areas of Salesforce that formerly needed specialized programmers no longer necessitate the hiring of developers. Salesforce Flow Builder is now the key tool for creating various automation, thanks to several new capabilities.

Salesforce Flow has received a significant amount of work and investment over the last few years, and it is now capable of replacing all of the functionality of Process Builder and Workflows in a far more efficient manner.

In this blog, we will go over the updated Salesforce Summer ‘22 release updates.

In Salesforce flow entry conditions, use formulae. Custom icons may be used to make Apex-defined invocable actions stand out in Flow Builder. Using the new section component, organize displays. Drag record-triggered flows into the sequence you choose in Flow Trigger Explorer. In Flow Builder, you may create, store, and execute tests for flows. Using the Migrate to Flow tool, migrate more process rules to flow.

Flow Builder

As your flow entrance condition needs, use formulae. Custom icons may be used to make Apex-defined invocable actions stand out. Using section headers, create a visual hierarchy for flow screens. With Go-To connection enhancements, you can find associated items in your flow. Add Name and Address record fields to your flow screens easily (beta).

Access to the Screen Editor Flow Builder has been Upgraded

Focus and screen reader features make it simpler to create screen flows with a screen reader. Following specific activities, the attention is automatically adjusted to speed up the following activity. Screen readers may now read labels linked with screen record fields and unnamed components as well.

Where: This update affects Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic versions in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer.

How: These changes are meant to boost accessibility.

When you start a new screen element, the attention is moved to the label field in the screen properties pane.

When you access an existing screen element, the screen properties pane's focus is set to the Edit icon for the screen element.

When you establish a component visibility condition in a screen component, the condition takes precedence.

When you make a choice resource from a value field, the attention returns to the value field where you made the choice.

Flow Trigger Explorer Allows you to Change the Run Order of Record-triggered Flows

Drag record-triggered flows into position to easily adjust their run order. Flow Trigger Explorer allows you to modify the run order of record-triggered flows without having to open and edit individual flows.

Where: This modification affects Lightning Experience in the Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer versions.

How: Click Edit Order in Flow Trigger Explorer and drag flow into the order you want them to execute.

All Data Permissions for Debugging Triggered Flows can be viewed here

Only users with View All Data rights may debug record- and schedule-triggered flows in Summer '22. Users who did not have View All Data rights may previously troubleshoot triggered flows.

Where: This update affects Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic versions in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer.

Create Your Own Screen Components Other Components on the Same Flow Screen Should Be Reacted To (Pilot)

Reduce the number of screens a user must traverse through by designing a flow screen with bespoke screen components that respond to updates on the same screen. You already separated these components onto distinct screens.

Where: This update affects Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic versions in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer.

How: Inquire with your Salesforce professional about being considered for the Salesforce Flow Reactive Screen Components pilot program In a flow screen.

Insert a standard input component, such as a text or a number, or insert a custom component with an output property.

Add a personalized component that reacts to changes in the first component by setting its inputs to the first component's output. Set the Knowledge Article Search component's query input.

Remove Managed Package Flow and Process Versions

In the org that uploads the package, you may now delete a flow or process version from a managed package. You cannot build a new version with the same API name after deleting one. When you delete a version, the org that subscribes to the package retains the version until it is manually deleted in the subscriber org. You couldn't previously delete a flow or process version from a managed package in the org that submitted the package.

Where: This update affects Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic versions in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer.

How: Click Flows from the Setup menu. View the flow information page and remove an existing flow version. Tooling API can be used to remove a version of a Process Builder-created process.

With an Invocable Action, send Screen Flows to Slack (Beta)

Send a message to a Slack channel, a direct message, or the Messages tab of a Slack app with a button that allows the receiver to initiate a flow.

Where: The Slack Send Message to Run Flow invocable action is offered as a Sandbox Beta Service. The invocable action is available in the Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer versions of Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic. Slack applications, tools, and services that have been approved and installed by the owner of your Slack workplace are accessible to users in the Slack desktop, mobile, and web applications.

How: Create a screen flow in Flow Builder that only includes Slack-compatible screen components. When you save the flow, tick the Make Available in Slack (Beta) checkbox in the Save the flow dialog box's Advanced section. Then, create a second flow with the slack Send Message To Launch Flow Name,  invocable action, where the flow name is the API name of the flow to transmit.

Restart Paused Flow Interviews in the Same Context and with the Same User Access (Release Update)

Where: This update affects Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic versions in Essentials, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer.

How: If auto-launched flow interviews are interrupted and then started after a time-based resume event, they may fail. To minimize unsuccessful flow interviews, make sure that running users have the permissions needed to execute all flow components following each Pause element. You can also set auto-launched flows to always execute in the framework.

To install this version, go to Setup, type Release Updates in the Quick Find box, and then pick Release Updates. Follow the testing and activation procedures to let paused flow interviews resume in the same context with the same user access.
