In Salesforce, Page Layout is used to customize the page of an object record. It controls the layout of an object.

It defines which fields the user can view and edit while entering the data in Objects.

On object record pages, page layouts determine how buttons, fields, Visualforce, custom links, and related lists are arranged and displayed.

The following actions can be performed using Page Layout:

  1. Control which fields, lists of related records, and custom links users see.
  2. We can customize the order that the fields that appear on the Record pages.
  3. Control where blank spaces appear between fields.
  4. Control which buttons and actions are included, such as ‘Edit’, ‘Clone’ or ‘Delete’, and in which order.
  5. They also help us to determine which fields are visible, read-only and required.
  6. We can control which standard and custom buttons appear on records and related lists.

Related Lists on Page Layouts

Related lists can be added and removed from the page layout. Additionally, you can control the related list properties, including which columns and buttons are displayed. This is really important to ensure you display enough information on a related list to make it useful to your users!

You can control which actions are available, and in what order, via 'Mobile & Lightning Actions'.
